Ingredients

  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 70g sugar
  • 7g salt
  • 230ml warm milk
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 2 eggs
  • 100g softened butter
  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 100g tahini
  • 50g butter (for filling)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 500g of all-purpose flour, 70g of sugar, and 7g of salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together 230ml of warm milk, 1 packet of active dry yeast, and 2 beaten eggs. Let it sit until bubbly.
  3. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and knead until a smooth dough forms.
  4. Add 100g of softened butter and continue kneading for about 10 minutes.
  5. Cover the dough with a clean cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  6. Prepare the filling by mixing 200g of dark chocolate, 100g of tahini, and 50g of butter until smooth.
  7. Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle, spread the chocolate-tahini filling evenly, and roll the dough tightly.
  8. Cut the roll in half lengthwise and twist the two halves together, shaping it into a loaf.
  9. Place the loaf in a greased loaf pan and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake the loaf for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Allow the babka to cool before serving, and top with crumbled chocolate if desired.
