Ingredients

  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 50g sugar
  • 10g salt
  • 250ml warm milk
  • 7g active dry yeast
  • 1 large egg
  • 200g softened butter
  • 200g almond paste
  • 100g powdered sugar
  • 2 large eggs for the filling
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together 500g of all-purpose flour, 50g of sugar, and 10g of salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together 250ml of warm milk, 7g of active dry yeast, and 1 large egg.
  3. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients to form a dough.
  4. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth, then let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  5. After the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle.
  6. Spread 200g of softened butter onto the dough, then fold it in thirds like a letter.
  7. Roll it out again and repeat the folding process twice more.
  8. Roll the dough into a large rectangle once more and cut into strips.
  9. In a bowl, mix together 200g of almond paste, 100g of powdered sugar, and 2 large eggs to make the filling.
  10. Spread the filling onto the dough strips and roll them into swirls.
  11. Place the swirls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rise for 30 minutes.
  12. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  13. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
