Ingredients

  • 500g puff pastry
  • 300g sweet chestnut paste
  • 200ml vanilla cream
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the puff pastry by rolling it out on a floured surface until it's approximately 3mm thick.
  2. Cut out two circles of pastry, each around 20cm in diameter.
  3. In a bowl, mix the sweet chestnut paste and vanilla cream until well combined.
  4. Place one pastry circle on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  5. Spoon the chestnut mixture into the center of the pastry circle, leaving a small border around the edge.
  6. Brush the edges of the pastry with egg wash.
  7. Place the second pastry circle on top, pressing down the edges to seal.
  8. Use a sharp knife to make decorative slashes on the top pastry for ventilation.
  9. Brush the top with more egg wash for a golden finish.
  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
