Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups all-purpose flour, 1 packet of instant yeast, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  2. Heat 1 cup of milk until warm (not boiling) and stir in 1/4 cup melted butter. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients.
  3. Add 1 large egg to the mixture and knead until a soft dough forms. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  4. Once the dough has doubled in size, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Spread 1/2 cup softened butter over the surface of the dough. Mix together 1 cup brown sugar and 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon, then sprinkle this mixture evenly over the butter.
  6. Starting from one edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut the roll into 12 equal pieces.
  7. Place the rolls into a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake the rolls in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. While the rolls cool, mix together 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to create the icing.
  10. Drizzle the icing over the cooled rolls before serving.
