Golden palmiers are a classic pastry that brings a touch of elegance and crunch to any dessert table. These delightful treats are known for their spiral shape and flaky layers, making them as visually appealing as they are delicious. Combining the richness of butter with the sweetness of cinnamon sugar, golden palmiers are not just a feast for the eyes, but also for the palate. This recipe will guide you through each step of creating your own batch of these beautifully layered pastries.

The origin of palmiers can be traced back to French patisserie, where they are often referred to as “elephant ears.” The name comes from their distinctive shape, which resembles the ears of an elephant when rolled out. Traditionally made from puff pastry, these pastries have found worldwide popularity, being enjoyed in various forms and flavors. The simplicity of the ingredients allows for creativity, enabling bakers to experiment with different sugars and fillings while still remaining true to the original recipe.

Golden palmiers are a versatile treat for numerous occasions. Whether you are hosting a brunch, serving snacks at a party, or simply enjoying a cozy afternoon with coffee, these pastries fit perfectly into any setting. They can be served warm straight from the oven or allowed to cool and served with a scoop of ice cream for a delightful dessert. Their elegant appearance makes them an excellent choice for special events such as weddings or holiday gatherings, ensuring that your guests are both impressed and satisfied.
