Ingredients

  • 200g crushed hazelnuts
  • 100g all-purpose flour
  • 100g sugar
  • 100g unsalted butter, melted
  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 50ml brewed coffee
  • 200ml heavy cream
  • 250g cream cheese
  • 50g additional sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F) and prepare a baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine crushed hazelnuts, flour, sugar, and melted butter until the mixture resembles a crumb-like consistency.
  3. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the base layer.
  4. Bake the base layer for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden, then allow to cool.
  5. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the chocolate with brewed coffee until smooth.
  6. Whisk in heavy cream until fully combined, then pour over the cooled base layer.
  7. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese with sugar and vanilla until smooth, then layer it over the chocolate mixture.
  8. Refrigerate the pastry bars for at least 4 hours or overnight to set.
  9. Once set, carefully slice into bars and garnish with additional hazelnuts and chocolate drizzle if desired.
