Ingredients

  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 10g salt
  • 50g sugar
  • 250ml water
  • 200g salted butter

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 500g of all-purpose flour, 10g of salt, and 50g of sugar.
  2. Add 250ml of water and mix until a rough dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  4. Roll the chilled dough into a rectangle (about 1 cm thick).
  5. Spread 200g of softened salted butter evenly over two-thirds of the dough rectangle.
  6. Fold the unbuttered third over the center and then the other buttered third over that, creating a layered rectangle.
  7. Chill the dough for another 30 minutes, then roll out again and repeat the folding process two more times.
  8. After the final fold, roll the dough into a 1 cm thick rectangle and cut into squares.
  9. Place each square in a greased muffin tin, allowing them to rise for 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and crispy.
  11. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm.
